Jo & Co was a business set up in Sept 2001 by buyer and designer Jo Broughton. Her remit was to manage renovation and refurbishment projects for private and commercial clients on a freelance basis.
In 2003 she teamed up with an ex-colleague who brought with him an extra 10 years buying experience and, more importantly, specialist knowledge in one particular field; Contemporary Oceanic Art.
Jo was continually being asked for 'contemporary pieces that had a soul' or 'just something different' and their experience in the field and passion for colour/space balance seemed to be the answer to sourcing what their clients demanded.
The pair set about trying to simplify and demystify this miss-understood sector of the contemporary art world.
As you would expect from such a commercial duo, all their art comes direct from the Aboriginal Communities, which scatter Australia's 'red centre', but they have specialised in work from the Central/Western Deserts and Balgo areas. These communities offer some of the finest work available. They are beautiful yet remote places but John and Jo realised very early in their sourcing careers that they would need to go the extra mile to find the right material-and they have never been disappointed.
The team specialise in sourcing a specific piece for a specific brief-commissions range from £100's to £1000's and their customers are still a mix of both private and commercial.
